Iccy

I started playing bass at thirteen, because all the other kids wanted to be Jimmy Hendrix and play lead. A couple of years later I started playing in semi-pro bands around the local circuit, mainly rock but also dance/function bands.

After playing for about ten years I stopped to pursue other pastimes, including Ultra Distance Running and Shotokan Karate Do, which I taught for fifteen years. I also love to ride motorcycles, and one of my hobbies is building custom bikes.

During my sabbatical away from playing I kept a keen interest in music, and 5 years ago started to study jazz technique/theory with a well respected tutor. I play four, five and six string bass, but mainly favour the Warwick Corvette five string - it just feels right from funk to folk.

It was a real honour to be asked to take the bass spot from Nathan, and I hope that my mixed tastes and playing experience will add to the varied and heartfelt music that is Dragonsfly.

I'd love to hear from any bass players out there, and look forward to seeing you at future gigs.
